This Sunday 27th October, I’m taking a walk from Talybont on Usk as one of the many fab events you can book via www.gooddayout.co.uk….there are still a couple of places available at the time of writing so book with them online if you fancy it. I love this ‘experience’ company! The idea is that everyone benefits, since most of the experiences offered are educational or helpful in some way, with a percentage of the profit going to an appropriate charity. This is the last date I have booked in until next Spring, but that doesn’t mean that the hedgerows and their harvest simply turn off. There’s still an astonishing amount going on even in the depths of winter… …and on Saturday 12th October I’m at Hereford Library as part of their H-Energy http://www.myherefordshire.com/EventDetail.aspx?EventId=447e254a-3e7b-44ee-8ff7-3f176bc6eda4 5th October…it’s the Neath Food Festival , and I’ll be taking a group of keen autumn foragers out from Victoria Park at 3.30 pm. Really looking forward to this…have taken walks out all over the UK but hardly visited the Valleys at all! Www.neathfoodfestival.org NB Walks at Abergavenny are sold out on both days. There is a waiting list if you’re keen keen keen! 21st and 22nd September sees me wending my way to the stunning Abergavenny Food Festival. I’ve decided to take people foraging over at the Forgotten Landscapes project just 4 miles away from the town. Designated a UNESCO world heritage site, the Forgotten Landscapes is considered to be as important as the Pyramids and is epically beautiful. Booking is essential…you can buy tickets online at www.abergavennyfoodfestival.com. We’ll meet at the TIC at 9.45am and will kast for a couple of hours. On the Sunday a translator will provide a Welsh explanation. Incidentally, the last time I was foraging at this extraordinary place I found 2 perfect uncooked supermarket sprouts, about 100 metres apart…. 29TH AUGUST and I’m at the Monmouth Show, as part of the Big Skill team. I’ll be foraging at various times during the day. so come say hello! 26th August (that’s the Bank Holiday Monday) In support of the beautiful town of Talgarth gaining Walkers are Welcome status. I’m doing something a bit different here! From 10am-11am and 2pm-3pm everyday I’m running workshops called ‘How To Eat Sweets’ (it’s more complex than you could ever imagine!) And I’m foraging each day at 4pm. The grounds at the glorious Glanusk Estate and stunning and lend themselves very well to grubbing about in the hedgerows. 9th, 10th and 11th August 2013 Foraging at Wilderness Festival, Oxfordshire (www.wildernessfestival.com) Times as follows; Friday 9th 2.30 -3.30pm Sat 10th 10.30-11.30am and 4pm-5pm Sun 11th 10am-11am 28th July 2013 The lovely people from Herbfarmacy (www.herbfarmacy.co.uk) have invited me to come noodle along their hedgerows with you at their Open Day at The Farm, Eardisley, Herefordshire, HR3 6NE. I’ve always wanted to see the farm, where they grow organic acres and acres of plants which they then use in their award-winning products. 24th July 2013, 3pm Royal Welsh Show (RWAS.co.uk) Come find me in the Horticultural Marquee where I’ll be talking about wild plants and foraging in an interactive manner!
