Do you like bookshops? The smell of fresh ink as you select one for the shelf and stick your nose in it? Do you like to chat to the people that work there, knowing that they’ll recommend something new that you’ll love?

For me, buying a book is an experience, a treat, something special. Yes, I still buy books online from time to time. But not always.

If you want to keep it special, use your local bookshop.

My favourites are The Hours, in Brecon, where I can also get the best cup of coffee and cake in town as well as meet friends and get all the latest news from Leigh and Nicky, and Book-ish in Crickhowell, small, perfect, friendly and whose proprietor Emma has more ideas than anyone I think I’ve ever met!
